According to dentists, there are foods that should be avoided for proper oral health. Sugary soda drinks increase the risk of tooth decay. However, turning to diet drinks is not an answer, because they have acidic components that can erode tooth enamel. Sports drinks contain both harmful components, sugar and acid compounds. Potato chips must also be avoided for their sugar content, and their tendency to break into tiny pieces and get between the teeth. Biting ice can crack the teeth or chip the enamel if it has been weakened by acids. Dried fruit has excessive sugar, which sticks to the surface of the teeth.
